Hi.

SOTS ACM is a very old and quite huge mod that is developed for Sword of The Stars: Argos Naval Yard game. It was started in late 2007 and finished in 2011.

Here is a link to the mod`s web page.

Feel free to ask your questions, post suggestions and comments.

Since i got some time on my hands recently i decided to power up my venerable SotS once again, as well as your mod, and I found something very very odd. Playing as Morrigi I went to build a few DNs to defend my Systems against those pesky Silicoids (scatching my previous CR defending Fleets in the process). Now as the first Queen (re-)emerged my DNs showed a very strange behaviour in spinning and tumbling easily out of controll when being hit by the measily (Plasma?) shots of the silicoid drones )my cruisers, and even my destryoers never did so). At first I thiought, mhhh somehting wrong with the mass of those DN modules? I checked them via Editor, and no 30k-50k mass in comparison to 1k-2k destryoer masser seemed to be fairly ok, but still those DNs get tumbled around by Silicoid drones.

Of course i have the newest Version of the game and the mod.

Hi.

Honestly i have no idea what might be causing this. And more so - why it happens only to DNs and not to other Morrigi ships.

I didn`t change anything related to Morrigi dred drives except for explosion effects, but that surely does not have anything to do with those 'DN dances'.

Can you make a vid and post it here? For example with a 'SnagIt' program?

Wow! That`s just WOW!

I didn`t have so much fun quite long ago Улыбка

As for the problem - i have no idea what can cause this kind of behavior... It seems very odd that a DN is 'break-dancing' like this just because of small fighters, but if you look carefully - the drones them selves seem to be thrown away once the ship starts to spin.

Does this happen to all Morrigi DN configurations?

EDITED:

As a wild guess i assume that unique Morrigi DN design may cause this problem. It has unorthodox command and engine section placements.

Hm.

Standard bridge might cause the problems actually. I can`t recal what i might have done to it, but i might have changed thruster values for it.

Try copying the original thrust values for all command sections to the modded ones.

I can`t check it as i no longer have nither SOTS nor ACM at my PC, so its up to you Подмигивает

it's not Standard section alone, but also battlebridge(as seen in the Video), but i'll see into it

edit: checked all(at least i hope it where all^^) the DN Command sections and they looked pretty much all like this for what i think would be crucial(besides AI-section which has double the ammounts and some 200kish values for the force stuff):
Code:
netforcelimits
   {
      force_forward         0
      force_right         0
      force_up         0

      torque_yaw         320000000000
      torque_pitch         30000000000
      torque_roll         30000000000

      speed            3
      rotspeed         25
   }

also the masses range from 15k for Standard command to 30k for Absorber sections[/code]

Try to check if this happens in vanilla game (give Morrigi access to DNs from start via modding the mastertechtree file and enabling 'fusion' and all the way to DNs in construction).

I can`t reproduce this problem.

Hi Okim, your recent appearance on the Bluntermod board made me fire up this old warhorse again, and oops, it did something it never did before:
ACM141 crashes with Sots.any 1.7.1 right at the start - but only if the game has Zuul in it.

Now I don't even know where to start looking with all the changes you have made, so I wanted to let you know.

If you are busy with other things, that is no problem, this is an old project after all.

Hi.

According to this first post in my mod`s thread it requires ANY 1.8: http://kerberos-productions.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6835

So my advice for you is to update your ANY to 1.8.

Well hats off to Kerberos then.

I have not followed Sots1 for quite some time and never in my wildest dreams would I have expected another patch.

Thank you for the quick reply.

It actually a very old patch that came in 2011 in a couple of months following the ANY release Улыбка

But anyways Kerb did their game support job pretty well. At least for SOTS1.

Смеется Yeah, that is about what I meant by "quite some time" - been too busy playing aftershock ACM in that timeframe and as I came to your forum directly I missed the note you put up on the Kerberos one - but all is well now.
Happy modding
