DDS can be created in Photoshop with a proper plug-in (google for it - there are plenty of various versions).

It will also allow you to open the original ones to see how they are made.

I thought that something like that was made by UFO fans, but ok - do my best although I am a complete greenhorn... but still do not know how to prepare 3D model and what file format, by which tool etc.

hmmm, are you sure there was nothing designed in LAW/bazooka - style???

Sorry, but i can`t help you with that as i don`t remember the exact process of exporting a model into the game.

All i can say is that it was a very hard process of getting a simple model into the game that involved a 3ds max modelling application, photoshop with plugins for textures, MEEALOV utility for model transfer between max and game and a lot of manual editing of various text files.

so, Meaaov_UFOEDIT_1.4 works and opening UFOBINTXT transformed models... but can not export them to OBJ format Грустный



till now, without obj files I can not edit them in 3D MAX. PLEASE HELP - looking forward for advices for novice Подмигивает

Look for the MEAAOV editor in UFO: AfterMath files on strategy.co.uk. That one should be able to export the obj files.

ufff, milkshape did it Улыбка))
.obj edited in 3Dmax... models are ready... but can not import them in Meaaov and export them as .txt, usable in UFO:AS Грустный

Sorry, i have no editors on my PC, so i can`t do anything to help you.

There was something that i did specifically to the models after i exported them into .obj. I can`t recall what i did though.

All i can recall is that i copy/pasted muzzle/scope/etc. nodes from other models into the txt file and edited them in MEAAOV. And probably i also left them in txt without converting the exported models into binary.

"sonic destructor" done - made from 6 pieces (incl. overwhelming corpse of bazooka;).... almost done, because texture is not fixed - so, surface is awfull
